Season Opening Sweep
Baltimore Orioles Begin the Season With Four Straight Wins
After a long winter and spring of anticipation, the Baltimore Orioles finally opened their 2023 season with a four-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox.
The Orioles got off to a hot start, winning their first two games at home by scores of 5-2 and 4-3. They then traveled to Boston and took the first two games of the series there, 6-3 and 5-2.
The Orioles' offense was led by Cedric Mullins, who batted .400 with two home runs and six RBIs in the four games. Adley Rutschman also had a strong start to the season, batting .333 with two doubles and three RBIs.
The Orioles' pitching staff was also impressive, allowing just seven runs in the four games. Dean Kremer started the season opener and allowed just two runs in five innings. Jordan Lyles, Spenser Watkins, and Félix Bautista all also pitched well in their starts.
The Orioles' sweep of the Red Sox is a great start to the season. They now have a 4-0 record and are in first place in the AL East. The Orioles will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
