Tennessee Baseball Sweeps North Carolina in College World Series Opener, Sets Up Matchup with Georgia

Top-ranked Tennessee baseball clinched the series victory against North Carolina in the College World Series opener on Sunday, with a 6-1 win, setting up a matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs for Game 11 and 12.
The Vols took control of the game early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding another in the second to build a 4-0 lead. North Carolina managed to get one run back in the third, but Tennessee held them at bay, allowing just one more hit for the rest of the game.
Drew Gilbert led the way for Tennessee at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Liam Spence, Seth Stephenson, and Landon Powell each had two hits. Will Heflin started on the mound for the Vols and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven.
With the series victory already in hand, Tennessee will now face Georgia in Game 11 and 12 of the College World Series. Game 11 will now start at 2 pm Central time on Wednesday, with Game 12 starting at 6 pm.
